New political movement to be launched in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR, November 16, 2012:A people’s convention will be held here on November 23 to launch a campaign for a corruption-free pro-people political alternative in Odisha to conserve the natural resources such as land, water, forest and minerals.
The convention will be attended by about 1,000 representatives of various people’s movements and mass organisations actively working in different parts of the State.
The convention will be held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Nabakrushna Chaudhury, the late former Chief Minister who was a symbol of people-centric politics in the State.
Giving details of the campaign at a Press conference here on Thursday, Lingaraj of Samajwadi Jan Parishad, Prafulla Samantara of Lok Shakti Abhiyan and Rabi Das of Odisha Janasammilani said that like-minded political forces and individuals had come together to form a political alternative for the State after prolonged consultation and brain storming.
The campaign will be launched with the release of an alternative development plan for the State, according to the activists.
