Protest against Commonwelth Games

NEW DELHI: Vidyarthi Yuvjan Sabha and Samajwadi Jan Parishad organised a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday in protest against Delhi hosting the upcoming Commonwealth Games.Addressing the gathering, Samajwadi Jan Parishad vice-president Sunil said a whopping sum of money was being spent on the mega sporting event.
“It is being said that the Commonwealth Games would be the most expensive Games ever. The same government claims that it doesn’t have funds for providing cheap ration, electricity, drinking water, medical facilities and education to every child.”Prof. Shamim Modi of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences said: “Rather than using our scarce resources , they are being used to satisfy the greed of a small section of society.”
